LSL was involved in three projects featuring transit in the City of Ann Arbor:
Park and Ride Study
In support of Parsons-Brinckerhoff, LSL assessed demographics and planned changes to land use patterns to identify potential park and ride lot additions. This project also included a review of current lot occupancy and ridership to identify potential lot expansion or change in bus frequency. LSL also evaluated potential redevelopment opportunities for two key corridors that could accommodate a park and ride facility as part of the project.
Ann Arbor Transportation Plan
Ann Arbor's Transportation Plan prescribes growth without any increase in auto vehicle miles traveled. Par of the package to achieve that goal is through transit enhancement and transit-oriented redevelopmen along "signature" corridors. Overlay zoning districts were created along signature transit corridors to promote mixed-use, walkable development and to prevent non-transit-oriented uses and design. Recommendations included moderate to high-density development at transit stations transitioning to lower densities at the edges.
Washtenaw Corridor Plan
Washtenaw Avenue is the highest transit ridership corridor in the Ann Arbor area, linking the downtown with the Univerisy of Michigan and adjacent suburbs. This plan promotes improvements to safety and travel for all modes including removeal of conflicting access points, intersection improvements, site design, and amenities to support walking, biking, and transit. |
