Spring Lake Economic Development

LSL Planning teamed with the Village Planning Commission and Downtown Development Authority to formulate a downtown plan and design guidelines for this community abutting water on three sides. A major focus of the effort was addressing the challenge of a state highway traversing the length of the community and bisecting the downtown.

The planning process included an extensive market study, community survey and consensus-building meetings with a community task force. One of the first implementation measures of the plan was a “Design Guidelines” educational booklet which graphically presents the preferred design character for the core Village area for use by the public, businesses and their design professionals.
