Building on a string of successes, the Midland Downtown Development Authority (DDA) commissioned a Redevelopment and Design Plan to explore new development opportunities and potential projects to enhance the downtown. LSL was part of the planning team that identified opportunities for new housing and methods for improving the pedestrian environment connecting downtown to surrounding neighborhoods.

Public design workshops employed a highly interactive 3-D massing model of the existing downtown to simulate proposed infill and redevelopment projects and depict the final illustrative plan recommendations.  A housing market study was also prepared to provide a sound basis for recommendations to inject residential life into the district. Implementation is a key element of the plan, providing a practical time table and detailed phasing of projects to set a path for public and private investment throughout the downtown.
