Environmental & Watershed
Much like corridor plans where several communities share
a common roadway whose traffic moves freely from one town
to another, watershed plans acknowledge that the practices
of one community will impact, for better or worse, the
neighboring communities.

Water flows across communities
without regard for municipal boundaries. Stormwater in
one community may easily find its way to a final destination
several jurisdictions away, making its impact felt more
on its destination than the place of origin. Therefore,
the relation between land use planning, zoning, and protecting
the environment is a complex one that often must extend
beyond political jurisdictions.
In order to address these complex relationships, LSL has
undertaken several watershed planning efforts involving
multiple governmental units in a single, coordinated effort
focused on a common goal. A joint master plan, common zoning
regulations, and other complementary ordinances are often
the outcome of these efforts.
Typical services include:
- Technical review of Master Plans/Zoning Ordinances
- Master
Plan and Ordinance provisions related to environmental
protection
- Watershed resource and education papers
- Facilitating
public involvement meetings
- Training public officials
