Environmental protection has always been the goal of watershed projects, but has not always involved land use planners. LSL is proud to have been a part of this unique project.
LSL worked with 4 communities in the Kalamazoo River/Gull Lake Watershed. The firm assisted in identifying and addressing issues within the watershed including water quality protection, farmland, open space & rural character preservation with residents and local officials who are charged with the responsibility of planning and zoning in their respective communities. LSL reviewed existing ordinances and plans, recommended changes, worked with individual communities to complete those changes.
The result was recommended land use practices and regulations to minimize the impact of adjacent land use activity and the water quality of the Kalamazoo River and Gull Lake.
