Grosse Ile Open Space &
Environmental
Regulations
Grosse Ile Township has been aggressive in its attempts
to preserve the island’s natural areas, wildlife
habitat and open space. This has been done largely through
efforts
to purchase the land under the Township’s open space program.

This
open space program is funded through a millage passed
for the last several years by Township residents. This
program
has been very successful and is used as a model elsewhere
in the state.

In addition, LSL has assisted with various development
regulations that provide tools to help sustain both the
quality built and natural environment, while protecting
the features that create a sense of identity for Grosse
Ile Township. These include:
- Zoning Ordinance
- Waterfront Regulations
- Subdivision and Condominium Ordinances
- Roads and Driveways
Ordinance
- Wetlands & Waterways Protection Ordinance
- Stormwater
Ordinance
