Grandville is an active, suburban community just outside of Grand Rapids. Consistently primarily of young families, residents have access to many park and recreation opportunities in and outside of the city, both passive and active.
The plan identified opportunities to maximize use of existing park land, including a diverse range of facilities to address a variety of interests among residents. The planning process included working with a steering committee made up of staff, Council, Planning Commission, the school district, and residents. In addition, focus groups were held with school children of different ages and recreation providers to understand the diverse opportunities and needs of the city.
Concept plans were developed for four parks that incorporated existing facilities at the same time introducing new amenities to promote diversity. Trail extensions and connections were also planned to link to the regional system.
