Urban Design & Land Planning
In the built environment, each development decision has
a lasting impact on the community. Therefore, the design
of urban spaces must fully consider the interrelationship
of various site elements in achieving functional and aesthetic
solutions. Many planning projects, such as corridor studies
or downtown plans, require an integration of design with
land use and transportation.

Land planning might be described as the process of moving
broad community plans toward reality. In other words, land
planning takes the community master plan to the next level,
showing how uses, buildings, parking, and amenities can
be arranged on a piece of property so they function harmoniously
within their surroundings.

The successful land plan should thoroughly integrate the
owner’s objectives with the community’s expectations
and the user’s needs. It must bear the signatures
of several authors – planner, engineer, traffic engineer,
landscape architect, and more.
As planning specialists who have assisted communities
and developers for years, LSL recognizes the interrelationship
of the many components that go into a successful project
and the importance of assembling the right team. LSL is
a frequent contributor to such team efforts in a variety
of areas, including:
- Zoning analysis
- Site planning & layout
- Traffic and fiscal impact
assessments
- Parking & circulation studies
- Design guidelines
- Economic and brownfield redevelopment
packaging
- Preparation of zoning applications
- Public and media
relations
- Presentations to community officials
